According to current statistics, Nigerian women make up 70% of the country’s extremely poor population, despite accounting for only 49.5% of the general population. Widows and their children are especially vulnerable, often faced with distinct challenges such as restricted access to economic opportunities, inadequate healthcare, poor nutrition, exposure to violence, fear of isolation, and diminished self-esteem, all of which require customized support and solutions.

To address these challenges, the CINTA Project was launched in December 2018 by Flame Initiatives with the mission to empower women—especially widows and their children—who are at the base of the social and economic ladder. The project adopts a multi-faceted approach that provides women with entrepreneurial skills, financial grants, networking opportunities, and the confidence needed to build resilience and thrive in their ventures.

ChananHill has been a proud partner and sponsor of the CINTA Project, committed to accelerating efforts to improve the lives of vulnerable women and children in Nigeria. Through this partnership, over 400 widows have benefitted from the initiative since its inception.

This year, the 5th Edition of the CINTA Project event was held in Abuja, where 50 widows received relief packages to support their families. As part of the program, eight of these women had the opportunity to pitch their business ideas and were awarded micro-grants to grow their enterprises. The event also included capacity-building in financial literacy, equipping participants with essential knowledge and tools for sustainable business management. The rest of the attendees were motivated to prepare and refine their pitches to be better positioned to seize future opportunities.

ChananHill takes pride in supporting this impactful initiative, which aligns with our mission to improve lives. Indeed, life gets better with ChananHill.
